Simulated and custom-designed configurations
SSE developed a solution for a small scale liquefaction plant with a nominal LNG production capacity of 15tpd scalable from 10tpd to 30tpd.
The plant configuration was simulated and designed for SSLNG applications that receive gas from the pipeline. The liquefaction of bio-methane is also possible after updating the biogas.
The SSE solution results in an installation based on minimal equipment, with efficient solution, intelligent and rational simplification of auxiliary systems, reduced plant presence and minimum CAPEX ( CAPital EXpenditure ) and OPEX ( OPerational EXpenditure ) with remote operation and supervision capability.

SSE has the internal capability to simulate and validate feed gas treatment and liquefaction processes based on multiple refrigerant cycles (ie N2, CH4, MR) using specific software for powerful process simulation to design and optimize processing facilities.
A gas liquefaction facility with a capacity of 10 ~ 30 tpd can be defined as a nano liquefaction facility.
For many technical and practical reasons, among the various gas liquefaction technologies available, two main refrigerant processes can be considered for a micro / nano liquefaction installation:
- Methane refrigerant cycle
- Nitrogen refrigerant cycle
SSE's design is based on the N2 refrigerant cycle for the following reasons:
- Simple liquefaction process
- Minimum equipment required
- Production flexibility
- Safe liquefaction cycle based on inert gas
